Losing Streak Hits 8 for Detroit as Golden State Wins, 105-98

The Detroit offense looked a little better Wednesday night, but it still wasn’t enough to take down Western Conference leader, Golden State. The Warriors managed to shoot 52.4% from the field, en route to a 105-98 win against the struggling Pistons. Klay Thompson led the Warriors with 27 points on 11-19 shooting. Steph Curry added 11 assists on a night where he struggled to score, only notching 9 points.

Andre Drummond had a career night, scoring 22 points and grabbing a career-high 27 rebounds, including 17 on the offensive end. Greg Monroe added 20 points and 8 rebounds, but had an off night shooting the ball going 7-18 from the field.

I mean, let’s be honest. No one expected Detroit to come in to Golden State and leave with the W. Golden State has a league-best record of 51-12, including 28-2 at home. Detroit is now 8-19 against Western Conference teams this season.

Detroit continues to struggle offensively during this 8-game losing streak. In the month of March, Detroit is shooting 40.3% from the field and 20.8% from deep, good for 27th and 30th in the league respectively.

The playoff door is continuing to close as Detroit now sits 6 games behind Miami for the 8th seed in the East. The real struggle may be the fact that Charlotte, Boston, and Brooklyn are all between them. It’s going to take nothing short of a miracle for the Pistons to turn it around and make the playoffs for the first time since 2009.

Stat Line of the Night
