Buffalo

Bills Draft Prospect

on

With the NFL draft looming closer and closer by the day, I will begin  looking  at a prospect  and determine why the Bills should or should’t draft this player.

This year the Bills only have 6 draft picks this because of all the trading that the Bills did in the past. Those picks are:

Round 2 Pick 50

Round 3 Pick 81

Round 5 Pick 155

Round 6 Pick 188 From Minnesota

Round 6 Pick 194

Round 7 Pick 234

Today I will look at the overall census of who people think the Bills are going to draft with the 50th pick and take an in-depth look at that player. The bills top needs are QB, OL, LB, DL, and TE.

With the 50th pick of the 2015 draft the Buffalo Bills select

Quarterback Bryce Petty -Baylor

Mel Kiper Jr. thinks that Petty to the Bills makes sense.  Kiper says “I think Petty could go. Now, could he be a third-round pick? Sure. But I think a quarterback at some point in time in the first four rounds would at least have to be a possibility for the Bills.”

Bryce Petty weighs in at 230 lbs while standing at 6’3”. Petty ran a 4.87, 40 yard dash at the combine, which was the only category  he didn’t finish  as a top performer

While at Baylor,  he started for only two years going 21-4 and leading the bears to back-to-back Big 12 championships. Petty’s had a better 2013 than he did a 2014. In 2013 he was selected as Big 12 offensive player of the year and first team all-Big 12. His stats in that year were 4,200 yards passing, 32 touchdowns,  while throwing for only 3 interceptions. He also rushed for 209 yards,  while scoring 14 rushing TDs. He returned to Baylor and threw for 3,855 yards and 29 TDs with 7 interceptions. Rushed for 101 yards and 6 TDs. Petty did miss one game in 2014.

Th strengths that Petty has, is his size, arm strength and deep ball accuracy. His weaknesses are, his reads and progressions. He also struggles when defenders are near his feet.

I think that this will be a good pick at this spot because in a quarterback driven league you need a quarterback to succeed. Right now the Bills don’t have one good enough to lead them. Unless one of the current roster quarterbacks miraculously steps up, there is not one in Buffalo at this time.
