Colts Resign Multiple Key Pieces

The Colts top player they needed to resign was nickleback, Darius Butler. Although it seems like such a minor priority, Butler is very important to the Colts cover-man defense; normally taking on slot receivers. The terms of the deal were not disclosed, but it is a confirmed multi-year deal.

The Indianapolis Colts also resigned offensive lineman Joe Reitz to a 3 year, $9 million deal. Reitz provides a great utility lineman who can play multiple positions, and was a great help to the Colts in the playoffs with tackle Gosder Cherilus out.

Last season Ryan Grigson took a late free agency chance on safety Mike Adams last season, and Mike shocked Indy fans. Not only being a very productive Colt, but an All-Pro. He was the Colts’ most consistent safety on the roster, and had a career high six interceptions. Recently, they agreed to a 2 year deal, which likely wasn’t impactful financially.

This move was an answer to Sergio Brown darting off to Jacksonville. With him leaving, the Colts really need to find a replacement and partner for Adams.

Trent Cole and Frank Gore are very likely to agree to deals today. Andre Johnson, Terrance Knighton and D’Norris Searcy are all possible free agents targets. More cuts could be coming to the Colts roster as well.
